GOAN FISH CURRY

Today I will make Goan style fish curry. Here, I use Pomfret fish to make Goan fish curry. Sea fishes are rich sources of essential fatty acids like Omega - 3, Omega - 6 fatty acids and minerals. Pomfret fishes are high in fat content, calcium, vitamin A and D & vitamin B12. Pomfret fish is good for eyesight, healthy, hairs, skin & also good for nervous system. It’s helps reduce risk of heart disease and plays important role in brain development, maintaining good health. 

How To Make Goan Style Pomfret Fish Curry 

Goan fish curry is an authentic fish curry recipe. Tasty non veg main course cooked in masala with some tangy touch. This recipe is very common in Northern parts of Goa.There are so many types of fish curry recipe in Goa.But this one is most popular. It is really delicious and packed of flavours & spices.Seafood is really delicious and great deal for health benefits.This Goan fish curry is little spicy. When the spices are mix together which gives it so much yummy flavour. Creamynes of coconut,tangy flavour of tamarind and other spices. The colour of curry is so beautiful.It is a flavourful recipe which goes awesome with rice.Let's started. 

Ingredients 

Wet Masala 

Fresh coconut - 1/2 cup grated.
Whole red Kashmiri red chillies - 4 - 5( soaked in hot water ).
Onion - 1 medium ( chopped ).
Ginger - 1 Inch.
Garlic - 3 - 5 cloves.
Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon ( dry roasted ).
Coriander seeds - 1/2 teaspoon ( dry roasted ).
Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon ( dry roasted ).
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 teaspoon ( dry roasted ). 
Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon.
Tamarind paste - 1 tablespoon.
Green chilli - 1 pice. 
Water for grinding.

Tempering 

Pomfret fish - 500 gm.
Water - 2 cups. 
Oil - 2 tablespoons. 
Green chillies - 2 ( slit ). 
Salt as required. 

Process 

For Marination 

Take whole Pomfret fishes which is properly washed and cleaned.Sprinkle some turmeric powder,red chilli powder and salt on it,rub the fish on both side. Marinated for fifteen minutes. Keep it aside.

For Masala 

In a mixer jar put grated coconut, red chillies, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper, fengureek seeds, onion, ginger, garlic, green chilli & grind them all together. Then add tamarind paste & little water. mixing all & make a fine and smooth paste. 
Heat a cooking vessel with oil,add some curry leaves and transfer the grind paste into vessel. Add little water in empty jar,wash it and pour in the vessel & fry for 3 - 4 minutes. 

When masala is completely fry and oil leaves from gravy,add two cups water. Mix it properly & cover with a lid.Cook it for five minutes. 
Then put the marinated fish into the vessels add salt according to taste,add some some green chillies. Cover it with a lid. 
Cook it for ten minutes & turned off the gas oven.
Now Goan style Pomfret fish curry is ready.


Served hot with rice. Enjoy with your family. 

Useful Note 

Always choose fresh Pomfret fish for cooking.
